Welcome to Chemistry Department

              The department of Chemistry came into existence in the year 2018 and is presently headed by Smt. S.S. Mane. The department offers Chemistry as one of the optional subjects along with Botany, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology at UG level. Since its inception the department is progressing well. The department offers basic knowledge and practical skills in Chemistry by creating environment to understand the rapid advances made in modern Chemistry.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1. To provide a broad foundation in chemistry that stresses scientific reasoning and analytical problem solving with molecular perspective.

2.To develop an ability to observe, to analyze and to interpret objectively and to make rational decisions and to solve problems involving chemistry.           

  3.To develop manipulative and experimental skills, communicative skills used in the study of chemistry.

4.An awareness of the provisional nature of explanations about natural phenomena, and the complex relationships between phenomena.

5. An appreciation of the applications of chemistry in daily life

ACTIVITIES

  1. A special lecture organised on importance of chemistry & the topic of acids & bases on 11 october 2019 with a resource person Shri. I. V. Rodagi Asst professor Department of Chemistry MGVC College. Muddebihal.
  1. One Day National Level Webinar was organized on “Know Your Blood” On 14th  June, 2021 in association with department of Zoology.
  1. One day Field visit to water treatment plant organized on 20/08/2021 along with the  B.Sc. 6th sem students
  1. One Day National Level Webinar was organized on “1H NMR Spectroscopy and its applications in association with department of physics.
  1. One day field visit to sugar factory in yaragal on 25/01/2022 along with B.Sc 5th  sem students.

CO1: Understanding of atomic structure through various atomic models , quantum numbers and rules in filling atomic orbitals

CO2: Imparting essentials knowledge in chemical bonding factors affecting bonding and Born –Haber’s Cycle  applications to NaCl.
