Political Science

Political Science subject has been thought in this college as a part of Combined UG Degree course. right from 1977. Dr. S S Angadi laid foundation, Dr.M.S Patil is the Head of the dept who is Former Principal of the college  (from2015-2021) and at present Dr. A A Abbar is the Head of the dept Political science is offered as one of the optional subjects to BA UG Students. As a core subject it has 6 combinations. Indian constitution Paper is Mandatory subject to all UG Courses ( BA, B.Com and B.Sc)  Students and presently NEP Syllabus is Implemented (2021-22). 

  

Aim & Objectives      

1)  To create an enlightened and responsible generation of citizens with value    

     Orientation and commitment to the larger interests of the society and the Indian State.

2) The strive for the development of a civil society in tune with the participatory 

     democracy.

3) To develop norms and ethos rooted in the Indian Soil. Essentially combining 

      the local and the global virtues.

          Further to inculcate in the young minds the qualities of compassion, 

tolerance, humanism and patriotism in an age characterized by evils of corruption, terrorism. Communalism and regional fanaticism to propagate the ideas and ideals 

great political philosophers gender equity and   inter communal harmony in a 

plural society to build a transparent, accountable and responsive good governance

Programme Out comes

              The Department is dedicated to promote teaching and research in diverse fields of political science including Indian politics, comparative politics, international relations and human rights while maintaining the scholarship in some of the conventional fields like political theory and political philosophy. Presently, the department is offering Master’s and PhD programmes in Political Science. The learning outcomes of the programmes are as follows:

  • To develop comprehensive understanding of the subject by teaching both conventional and new areas of relevance in the domain of political theory and philosophy, Indian politics, comparative politics, public administration and international politics.
  • To develop comprehensive and interdisciplinary knowledge by emphasizing inter-linkages between various political, economic and social issues and challenges.
  • To generate socially-informed knowledge and cater to the educational upliftment of marginalized communities through papers like Human Rights, Political Ideas in Modern India and Women and Politics in India
  • To develop theoretically rich and empirically grounded knowledge
  • To motivate and inform students about the opportunities and future prospects in the field.
  • To develop the overall personality of students and prepare them to compete and succeed in their endeavours.
